Pool Retiling & Rewaterproofing Singapore

Re-waterproofing Specialist Since 1986. Renew your pool finishes with coordinated assessment, preparation, waterproofing and tiling works.

A fresh finish, built on sound preparation

Pool retiling and rewaterproofing, planned together.

Modern Pools provides pool waterproofing, tiling and grouting works for private homes, condominiums, clubs, hotels and institutional facilities in Singapore.

Tell us what needs attention: loose tiles, worn grout, an ageing finish or a suspected leak. We review the condition and scope before recommending the next step. The project can be coordinated with our pool renovation and filtration M&E services where required.

Repair options

Match the work to the condition of your pool.

Targeted tile repairs

An isolated defect may need a limited repair rather than a complete replacement. The surrounding finish and base must be assessed first.

Renew the tiled interior

For more extensive deterioration, discuss a wider retiling scope, including preparation and the choice of new finishes.

Review grout and waterproofing

Worn joints and damaged tiles need assessment together. Surface repairs alone may not address problems beneath the finish.

Pool finish assessment

Common signs

The condition of swimming pool finishes can change over time due to age, movement, exposure to pool chemicals and regular temperature fluctuations.

  • Individual tiles are loose, cracked or missing
  • Grout is deteriorating or breaking away
  • Sharp edges or damaged finishes create a safety concern
  • Staining or surface wear remains after surface cleaning
  • Sections of tile sound hollow or appear to be lifting
  • There are signs of leaks or deterioration around tiled areas
  • You want to refresh the overall look or design of the pool

Early attention can sometimes limit the amount of repair work needed and help protect the surrounding materials.

Tile selection

Choose finishes for each part of the pool.

Compare samples alongside the surrounding deck and the intended water colour.

Porcelain & ceramic

Select products specified for pool immersion.

Glass mosaics

Explore colour, scale and reflective finishes.

Waterline details

Coordinate borders with the main interior.

Steps & entries

Consider visible edges and suitable grip.

Pool surrounds

Specify wet-area finishes for the deck.

Grout & adhesive

Use a compatible pool installation system.

Re-waterproofing

Pool waterproofing beneath the tiles.

Rewaterproofing addresses the layer beneath the tiled finish. The condition of the existing base, previous repairs and signs of water loss help determine what needs investigation before a new surface is installed.

Modern Pools coordinates the agreed preparation, waterproofing and tiling scope. Discuss access, finish choices and the proposed reopening date at the assessment stage so these requirements can be considered together.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about pool tiling

View all pool FAQs →
Can you replace only a few damaged tiles?

Yes. If the damage is localised and compatible replacement tiles can be sourced, individual or small groups of tiles may be replaced without re-tiling the whole pool.

Do I need to re-tile the entire pool?

Not always. We repair localised damage where possible and recommend full re-tiling only when the condition of the surface calls for it.

What types of tiles can be used in swimming pools?

There are several types of pool-suitable finishes, including porcelain, mosaic, glass and selected specialist products. The right option depends on the location, substrate and intended finish.

Can you match my existing pool tiles?

We compare size, colour, pattern and finish and look for the closest available match. Exact matching may not always be possible, especially where older tiles are discontinued.

Can damaged tiles cause water leaks?

Tiles are the finish, not the main waterproofing layer. Cracked tiles, failing grout or movement can point to deeper issues. If there are signs of water loss, we investigate the cause before repairs begin.

How do you prepare the surface before tiling?

We remove damaged finishes, clean and repair the substrate, then prepare the surface for new tiles. Proper preparation gives the new finish a stronger, longer-lasting result.

How long does pool tiling take?

The programme depends on the size of the pool, number of affected areas, extent of preparation, tile choice and curing requirements. Larger re-tiling projects naturally require more time than isolated repairs.

Can pool tiling improve the appearance of my property?

Yes. New tiling refreshes the beauty of the pool and complements the wider property design, particularly where the existing finish is worn or outdated.

Do you work with property owners and commercial sites?

Yes. We support all private homes, condominiums, international schools and commercial sites across Singapore. Our team handles pool tiling repairs and larger re-tiling works across different property types.

What affects the price of pool tiling?

Cost depends on the pool size, affected surface area, tile choice, preparation required and extent of repairs. Different properties and project scopes require different levels of work, so we quote based on the actual site condition.

What is the difference between regrouting, retiling and rewaterproofing?

Regrouting replaces material between tiles. Retiling replaces the tiles and associated installation layers as needed. Rewaterproofing addresses the water-retaining system beneath the finish. The appropriate work depends on the condition of the existing pool.

What should I send Modern Pools?

Share the property location, photographs, approximate pool dimensions and the issues you have noticed. Existing drawings and your preferred work period help us understand the enquiry.

Can other pool works be discussed at the same time?

Yes. Include any filtration, equipment or renovation requirements in your enquiry so our team can review the project as a whole.
